Free student meals for the 2021-2022 school year

In a typical year, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-priced meals. Due to the recently issued guidance by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Anderson-Shiro CISD can offer meals to all students at no cost for the entirety of the 2021-2022 school year.

Therefore, Anderson-Shiro CISD made the decision for the 2021-2022 school year, healthy meals will be offered every school day, to every student, at no cost. The traditional Free or Reduced-price Meal Application will not be required to receive breakfast and lunch at no cost. The district will still offer a la carte items and snacks available for purchase. No charging is allowed for a la carte items.

A significant portion of Anderson-Shiro CISD budget is determined by the Free or Reduced-price Meal Application. The district has the option this year to use a new form called the ASCISD Socioeconomic Information Form for district information. This form will be required for all students. To incentivize the completion of the new ASCISD Socioeconomic Form the district will be offering prizes in which every student will be eligible to receive.

Prizes are as follows:

Prekindergarten – 5th Grade: Fire Tablet. One per each grade level

6th grade – 12th grade: Air Pods. One per each grade level

To be eligible, the Socioeconomic Application Form has to be turned in by August 25, 2021.

The drawing will be held August 26, 2021.

While no application or eligibility determination process is required for your student to receive free meals this school year, the income eligibility will likely resume in the 2022-23 school year.

This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

Please complete the Socioeconomic Form to be entered into the drawing and to support our district!
